Recently (already few months back) ethanol has been identified as IIB instead of IIA. It has been corrected in all relevant standards and guidelines. It defines changes in many ways, E.g the applicable installations around, max surface, etc.

In case of new installations it should not be any problem. But for existing ones – change management of documentations, etc. Keep up good work…!

  1. According to ISO/IEC 80079-20-1 Ed. 1.0 (2017-14-12), ethanol (CAS 64-17-5) is classified as Group IIB for water content below 4 %. However, for water content equal to or above 4 % ethanol is classified as Group IIA.
