The EC-Type Examination Certificate of a Category 2 Ex ‘d’ motor requires the use of a direct temperature control (e.g. a PTC thermistor triggering device). The motor has a fault tolerance of 0, i.e. the motor is not a source of ignition in a fault-free operational mode. The motor requires a safety device with a SIL 1 and a hardware fault tolerance of 0. With this, the motor can be used as Category 2 equipment.

NOTE The general requirements for Ex d temperature controls are given in EN 60079-1 and EN 60079-14.

Keep up good work!
