Competence of personnel (dust hazardous area classification)
The area classification should be carried out by those who are competent and understand the relevance and significance of the characteristics of dust and those who are familiar with the process and the equipment, along with safety, electrical, mechanical, and other qualified engineering personnel.
NOTE These elements are covered in several personnel certification schemes.
Citation from IEC 60079-14:2013 4.5:
“Competency can be demonstrated in accordance with a training and assessment framework relevant to national regulations or standards or user requirements.”
