First of all iec 60079-46 is a TS. TS stands for technical specification, it is not a standard yet and have been published to replace IECEx Decision Sheet 2015/001A that was originally published in response to market demand for a method of certifying assemblies. So it is already acceptable. It is a Standard and has no ‘legal status’ unless it is referenced or required by regulation or legislation via certification etc.

Clause 3.2 says:

3 methods for equipment assembly certificate there are:

– supplier’s declaration of conformity
– purchaser’s recognition of conformity
– certification*
*IECEx CB shall be involved. It is not for the EU market yet.
The first 2 sounds to be very exciting…!
